O’win & the Moon – A Picture Book Postcard

Today’s Picture Book Postcard is from O’win of O’win & the Moon.

“My Moon! She’s disappearing!” When a lunar eclipse covers Moon, O’win calls upon Bear, Lion & Swan to help save her. As the world is veiled in red, O’win soon finds that it’s up to him to save her – if he can get to her in time.

Image features a Picture Book Postcard from the newly-released STEM picture book titled O'win and the Moon (a lunar eclipse story).

Special Note: Next lunar eclipse is March 2026!

There was a solar eclipse and while it was happening, I just started thinking about how people long ago were frightened of eclipses because they didn’t know what was causing it and thought the sun was disappearing. To write new stories, I always ask, What if …? So I asked, What if someone wanted to save the sun? After many revisions, the story changed to a lunar eclipse (not many stories about lunar eclipses, if any). I had the Vanderbilt Planetarium vet all the info for accuracy because I love layers to stories & it includes SO much info including moon phases, constellations & eclipses
