Today’s Picture Book Postcard is from Alicia of Tic-errific Me.
In Tic-errific Me, a young girl explains what it’s like to live with Tourette syndrome. Her verbal and motor tics come and go, and she never knows which tics will join her activities. Over time, she has learned what makes her tic more, what helps her tic less, and she always remembers that the tics are part of what makes her a terrific kid.

Like the girl in the story, I have Tourette syndrome. Growing up, I felt embarrassed, and worried that the noises and movements my body made bothered people. But as I got older, I realized how my tics made me, me. I wrote this story to share my experience living with TS, as well as to empower readers to learn to embrace their tics, and show the world how truly tic-errific they are.
