Little Mini is determined to celebrate the Indian kite festival, Sankranti, but she doesn’t own a kite and wants to fly one, just like her big brother. Mini must use her creativity, build her confidence, and gather the courage to join in the fun and, ultimately, help avert an impending kite-astrophe!
Based on the Indian Kite Festival, which falls on January 14th every year, this book also explores themes of culture and diversity, sibling and family relationships, STEAM, determination, persistence, and outdoor sports.

You don’t always need a great idea or a big event for inspiration; sometimes it can be sparked by a setback, a failure, or even a silly situation. This story was born from the disappointment of missing a local kite festival I was really looking forward to taking my kids to. Instead, I ended up reliving my childhood experience of flying kite through Mini and Bhai, the characters of my story where Mini’s elder brother thinks Mini is too small to fly a kite

About Author Suhasini Gupta
Suhasini Gupta is a children’s book author, an engineer, and a mom. She was born and raised in India and currently lives in Texas with her family. She is the author of her debut picture book, Kai Po Che: Mini’s Perfect Kite, published by Gnome Road, and has two additional projects currently under contract.
She enjoys writing fun and imaginative stories that celebrate her Indian heritage, spark interest in STEM, and bring joy and wonder to young readers. When she’s not crafting stories, she can be found tending her garden, experimenting with new recipes, enjoying movies, playing piano, and exploring nature.
