April Berry is a children’s book author represented by Katie Monson of SBR Media. She has several completed picture book manuscripts and is also working on a middle grade chapter book.
She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising from Michigan State University, and her corporate background is in marketing and training. April has served as a mentor for teenagers with the Northview Mentor Program and spent several years volunteering in classrooms at the local elementary school.
April has a heart for reading and for encouraging children to read. When her own children were small, it was not unusual for her to read 20 or more picture books to them in a single day. Even now, she reads multiple chapter books aloud each year with her two middle grade children. Her oldest son is a college student who no longer wants mom reading aloud to him but he will listen to audio books with her on long car rides (and that’s almost the same thing).
When she is not reading or writing, April enjoys road trips, hiking, eating ice cream, and snapping too many pictures of her sheepadoodle puppy, Emma. (Emma is featured regularly on her Instagram account.)
April lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan with her husband, their three children, and their dog.
Active within the writing community, April is a member of Peninsula Writers, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, and the 12×12 Picture Book Challenge as well as a cohost for the Kid Lit Meet N Greet Podcast. She has been published in three anthologies.
