Hello! I’m April, and I am a wearer of many hats. You have probably stumbled onto this website because of my children’s book author hat. It’s one of my favorites.
However, I also wear other hats: wife, mother, reader, volunteer, ice cream fanatic, dog mom, traveler and more.
As a children’s book author, I am represented by Katie Monson of SBR Media. I have written several picture book manuscripts and have been working on a middle grade novel.
When I am not writing, I can often be found reading books – quietly reading books to myself, reading books aloud with children, sometimes even reading books to my dog, Emma. (Yes, my dog loves reading with me. Check out our Instagram to see what Emma’s favorite books are.) As a mother and an avid volunteer in our community’s school district, I am forever reading books aloud using animated voices and funny sound effects.
I love going on vacations. My family goes on two or more road trips every year. My favorite trips always involve a fun hike and/or a cool roadside attraction. Sometimes I even write about our excursions on the Minivan Adventures travel blog. I already mentioned that I love writing, right?
Also, I am a big fan of ice cream. I eat it when I’m reading, when I’m writing, when I’m traveling, when I’m happy, when I’m celebrating good news, when I’m frustrated, when I’m sad… anytime I get a chance to, really. I mean, who doesn’t enjoy ice cream?
Lastly, my husband and I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan with our three children – two school-age kids and one college student. Wahhhhh! I can’t believe my baby is already in college. Quick! Someone get me a bowl of ice cream.
